What are the Hazards in Construction site

Hazards are the risks that are faced on a construction site. There could be many types of risks depending upon the nature of the site. Sites might be indoor, outdoor, a road side, a sea side and a top floor of an 8th story building.

Simply we can say that hazards are some issues that cause our project to delay, cause health damage or cost overrun. These are the major categories of project hazards, but on a site there are even more which can be controlled in following ways.

Checklist to control hazards

Construction sites can be prevented from hazards through various ways like through screen printing making posters for information purposes.

1. Safety Trainings

Accidents on a site can be avoided by giving safety training to the teams. Education related to the work and the risks at work are equally important. Persons with such skills and knowledge can handle any type of situation.

On a daily basis there are different risks that one has to cater in order to fulfil his duties effectively. So it’s necessary to organise such training and classes for the worker on sites.

2. Safety Harness

Safety Harness is the guard for people working at height. It works like people at height may introduce any type of sips and slips and can be protected by a safety harness. It’s a rope with a hook with two ends. One end ties with the person and the other end ties to the support.

In case when any slip occurs, the rope of the safety harness protects the person from any injury and damage.

3. Alarms

Alarms are necessary in those construction areas. These sounds activate when any mishaps happen  in these places. If there is a fire alarm it will activate when any undesirable fire emerges.

There are some other conditions, like if a person sees any hazard in these places, he can press the alarm to inform his team of work. It should be conveyed to each worker that on alarm beep you have to leave the area urgently.

4. Regular inspections

There should be regular inspection on these areas that are prone to damage and caused damage. Areas on which inspection needed to be done are fire regions, slippy areas due to water and any damaged part that can injure someone on site.

5. PPEs

PPEs stands for personal protected equipment. PPEs are the most important thing to carry to the sites along with them. It includes Safety goggles, Safety jackets like Hi Vis Winter Work Wear, safety shoes and gloves. These items are the things , if a person has it then he will be allowed to go to construction sites.

There are policies in most regions where PPEs are the most important part for a project. Teams without PPEs are not allowed to work at sites as it may cause any injury.

Conclusion

Although there are wider and broader areas that need our attention, the above provided areas are the  must things. Sites can be smoothly executed by following the above guides and noticing every detail that will affect on a bigger scale.
